The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has said that it is working hard to recover from a ransomware attack with restoration expected by next week. The weather service was struck by an attack on 28th January and while systems were impacted, the organisation was still able to remain operational. The recovery process is taking longer than expected due to the magnitude of the breach.
Humane is shutting down the online services for its Ai pin and HP is buying the company. Online services – which drive every aspect of the pin – will shut down on 28th February leaving the few who purchased the pin with a shiny piece of ewaste.
Niantic, the developer behind Pokémon Go is reportedly looking to sell its gaming division. While this is somewhat normal, the price being bandied about is just $3.5 million. The buyer appears to be Saudi Arabian owned Savvy Game Group through its Scopely company. Niantic appears to be selling with a view to winding down its operations.
