Third time’s a charm? The Fantastic Four: First Steps teaser drops

  • As promised, Marvel Studios dropped a teaser trailer for its highly anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
  • The teaser could be deemed a fully fledged trailer, as we saw the team’s costumes, as well as the CGI-version of Ben Grimm.
  • It will release in July this year, the same month that DC will bring James Gunn’s Superman to cinemas.

If you are fan of comic book movies, you are going to be eating well this July. We already know that James Gunn’s Superman is earmarked for release on 11th July Stateside, but now we also know that he will be going up against The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

This as a teaser trailer for the film has just dropped from Marvel Studios confirming a release date of 25th July.

For those keeping count, it is the third time that a live action adaption of Marvel’s first family will be hitting screens, with the first two under the FOX studio and this third iteration featuring Marvel Studios at the helm.

Given the stellar work it has done with Spider-Man after he was liberated from Sony, we have high hopes for this latest version of the superhero team. It also goes without saying that Marvel films of late have lost some of their usual lustre ever since Endgame wowed moviegoers.

As for this teaser, there is plenty to dissect and gawk at, with it opening up in the 60s era version of this universe. We also get several scenes of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, which is played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach. He is joined by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm.

We also get to see the later flying around New York City (or a version of it) at speed as the Human Torch, although he does not say the iconic line.

Perhaps that will be saved for the full trailer down the line, but there is still a lot to enjoy in the teaser, such as the arrival of Galactus, and whoever John Malkovich will be playing in the movie.

We’re really hoping third time’s a charm for this team. Hit play on the video below to check out the retro-futuristic 60s and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
