- EA Sports has dropped a reveal trailer for its F1 25 racing game, with Lewis Hamilton on the cover of the Iconic Edition.
- The game is available to pre-order and arrives on 30th May 2025.
- The Iconic Edition will cost R1 699.95 on PS5.
The 2025 Formula 1 season officially kicked off two weeks ago, and the first couple of races have not disappointed when it comes to drama and crashes. For those who want to do a bit of virtual racing themselves, a reveal trailer for F1 25 from EA Sports dropped this week.
The choice of cover athlete for the Iconic Edition of the game comes as no real surprise, with seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton being selected. Hamilton rocked the racing world when he announced his move to Ferrari, but his move to the iconic team has yet to deliver the desired results.
“As Formula 1 celebrates its 75th anniversary, F1 25 reflects the real-world sport’s biggest driver line-up change in years, featuring six rookie drivers and the landmark move of seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who makes the unprecedented switch from Mercedes to Ferrari,” noted EA Sports in a blog post regarding the announcement.
“As the F1 25 Iconic Edition cover star, fans of Lewis and Ferrari will be able to show their support with a number of in-game perks tied to that edition of the game,” it added.
As for what those perks are, outside of the base game, the Iconic Edition will also offer:
- “Lewis Hamilton Iconic Pack,
- F1 World Event in F1 24,
- 3 Days Early Access,
- F1 The Movie Chapter Scenarios,
- APXGP Team Pack,
- Pre-Order Livery Pack,
- F1 75 Celebration Pack.”

Those extras will not come cheap either, with the Iconic Edition costing R1 699.95 to pre-order on PS5. The Standard Edition is pricey too at R1 299.95, but this is to be expected given the official licencing of the game that EA Sports has secured.
As for the on-track action, developers Codemasters are promising realism of the highest order.
“On track, F1 25 continues to innovate through the power of its EGO engine. Unlocking increased circuit authenticity made possible through LIDAR technology, several tracks and their surroundings are transformed with a more realistic look and feel,” shared EA Sports.
“F1 25 delivers more ways for players to experience Formula 1 and race their way, from the drama of Braking Point to making headlines in the pursuit of World Championship glory. This year, there are new opportunities for players to connect, collaborate, and compete than ever before. We look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks,” added Lee Mather, senior creative director at Codemasters.
