Star Wars Day 2025 is right around the corner when May the Fourth appears on the calendar this Sunday. In preparation for the day, Disney South Africa has shared with us some of its plans for the day and the time around the biggest event of the Star Wars calendar.
We’ve condensed the information down for you so you can absorb as fast as possible.
Disney+
- Andor: Season two is now streaming with three episodes out now. This season’s 12 episodes are broken down into four chapters of three episodes a pop. One chapter releases every week.
- Tales of the Underworld: A new animated anthology series premieres on 4th May. The six episode project follows Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane.
- Everything else: The entire Star Wars catalogue is available on Disney+.
Special programming
- Star Wars animation: Available on Disney Channel (DStv channel 303) and Disney Junior (DStv channel 309) this weekend.
- Young Jedi Adventures: Marathon across on the weekend at 17:00 to 20:00 on Disney Junior.
- Lego Star Wars: Summer Vacation: Showing on Disney Channel at 17:00 on 2nd May.
- Star Wars-themed episodes: Several shows will air their themed episodes in a marathon on Disney Channel throughout the weekend from 11:55 to 13:35. This includes Phineas & Ferb, Ducktales, The Owl House, Hamster & Gretel and Big City Greens.
Merch
- New stock and specials: Available from many retailers.
- LEGO: Disney South Africa makes note of some standout sets like 75337: AT-TE Walker, 75403: Grogu with Hover Pram, 75398: C-3PO, 75381: Droideka and 75407: Brick-Built Star Wars Logo Sign.
- Hasbro: Provides a range of lightsabers, masks and role playing items. Note is also made of the huge range of action figures.
- Photo opportunity: Inside the Toys R Us stand at Comic Con Cape Town, which is between 1st and 4th May.

- Star Wars Celebration 2025: Revealed much of the Star Wars slate coming in the next few years. A roundup of the event can be found here.
Aside from these highlights, lots of individual retailers, event planners and other organisations will no doubt be doing their own thing with Star Wars either on May the Fourth itself or for the whole weekend.
