• HONOR has launched its latest flagship phone in South Africa – the Magic7 Pro.
• The new device features a host of AI-powered features and a price tag of R29 999.
• It also features an AI HONOR Falcon Camera System, powered by a 200MP primary lens.

To kick off April, HONOR is officially bringing its latest flagship phone to South Africa in the form of the Magic7 Pro.

In recent weeks, we have been testing out the flagship device, after being seeded one following HONOR revealing its Alpha Plan at MWC last month. With a heavy focus on on-device AI-powered features, HONOR is hoping this latest offering shakes up the local mobile space.

“We are excited to introduce our latest flagship lineup, the HONOR Magic 7 series, which seamlessly integrates both on-device and cloud AI capabilities to deliver a more intuitive, intelligent, and secure user experience. We have adopted a range of innovative approaches to reinvent the smartphone from the fundamental operating system and hardware level, bringing true intelligence to the device,” noted says Fred Zhou, CEO of HONOR South Africa, in a release shared with Hypertext.

“Those who love photography will welcome the AI HONOR Falcon Camera System, which combines a 50MP Super Dynamic Main Camera, a 200MP Telephoto Camera and a 50MP Wide Camera. The system is powered by AI HONOR Image Engine, an industry-first hybrid AI large model that enhances image clarity, depth and colour accuracy,” the company highlighted.

Other notable AI-powered features include the Magic Portal, which allows users to circle objects on-screen to bring up access to relevant apps. The device also has AI Deepfake Detection, which is a first in the smartphone industry, and analyses video calls to spot any suspicious visual anomalies to flag with users. 

As for the price, the Magic7 Pro is recommended to retail for R29 999, with Vodacom listed as a key retailer locally. The device will also be sold in one colour option only – Lunar Shadow Grey.
