- Loop has released its Route optimisation and Route planning APIs for businesses to make use of.
- These APIs help address inefficiencies delivery and logistic businesses may encounter.
- The company claims that its route optimisation reduces kilometres driven by 20 percent.
Businesses including Nando’s, OneCart and even Shoprite Group’s Sixty60 lean on the company Loop to make sure deliveries are quick and efficient. Now, Loop has launched its Routing APIs that any business with logistics and delivery operations can utilise.
With these APIs in play, businesses will be able to streamline delivery operations while reducing costs. The APIs can integrate into existing systems, which makes them a boon for businesses that are seeing costs climbing upward due to inefficiencies in their supply chain. For example, the route-planning API can determine the optimal number of deliveries for individual drivers. Factors such as destinations, weight of the parcels and maximum stops per driver are all considered.
Furthermore, route optimisation APIs help plan out the most effective route for drivers based on the destination of deliveries. Algorithms are used to calculate the shortest and fastest route based on distance, traffic conditions and the delivery time window. The company claims that its route optimisation reduces kilometres driven by 20 percent, and saves drivers an average of five hours every week.
“A big part of our goal with this API was to ensure seamless integration with existing delivery management, transport management or fleet management systems. Efficiency is at the heart of what we’ve built and that efficiency needs to translate into the ease with which clients can integrate it into existing systems,” Nadine Jack, head of product and engineering at Loop said in a statement.
“We’re particularly proud of the fact that our route planning and route optimisation solutions are adaptable as this allows us to easily tailor the algorithms to meet the unique constraints and requirements of clients across sectors, which means it can have a measurable impact on the efficiencies of an organisation and its specific challenges,” she adds.
Loop’s APIs are developed in-house, and if you think your business could benefit from the power of these APIs, you’ll have to get in touch with the company via its official website here.
