• OPPO has launched its latest premium mid-range smartphone in SA – the Reno13 F 5G.
• It is a slightly lesser specced version of the Reno13 which debuted locally last month.
• It is still well specced, however, and has a handful of AI-focused features.

Last month OPPO announced the launch of its latest flagship phone for South Africa in the form of the Reno13 5G. We recently published our review of the device, which retails for a recommended R18 999, but for more cost-savvy consumers out there, the Reno13 F 5G has now been launched locally too. 

While it may be slightly lesser specced than the device brought into the country last month, the Reno13 F 5G features all of the tenants that the regular 13 does, albeit at a more affordable price point. 

So what is it packing?

Internally, powering things is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, which is paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Added to this is a massive 5 800mAh battery, and to support that, 45W SUPERVOOC charging is present, which OPPO says can deliver up to eight hours of battery life from only 30 minutes of charging. 

“AI Battery Health technology optimises charging patterns, reducing long-term wear and ensuring sustained peak performance. Whether for work, travel, or gaming, the Reno13 F 5G is built to keep up with the busiest lifestyles,” OPPO South Africa pointed out in a release sent to Hypertext.

The other notable element is the camera system, with a 50MP main lens, 8MP ultra wide-angle lens, and 2MP monochrome lens featured on the rear, while a 32MP wide-angle lens is up front to take care of selfies.

There are some AI-powered elements dedicated to the photography onboard too. 

“The AI-enhanced camera system makes photography effortless. AI Livephoto ensures crisp and fluid motion capture, stabilising movement for smooth, shake-free images. As one of the few Android devices that allows sharing Livephotos with iOS users, it makes capturing and sharing those memories seamless,” noted OPPO.

As for pricing, the recommended retail price (RRP) for the Reno13 F 5G is R14 999.
