- The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has been revealed alongside full specifications of the device.
- While thinner than the S25 Ultra, it boasts similar hardware but a smaller battery.
- Unfortunately, it is not expected to launch in South Africa.
Teased Marvel post-credit style at the end of the January 2025 Samsung Unpacked event, the Galaxy S25 Edge – the final member of the S25 family, has launched, with Samsung Global revealing the smartphone and its specifications to the world at last.
The Edge is the culmination of years of rumours that Samsung could be working on a super-thin smartphone to rival Apple. The Edge is that smartphone with a breadth of just 5.8mm, and that doesn’t stop it from having flagship hardware as the Edge is boxing on par with the S25 Ultra in terms of chipset, memory and camera.

“Samsung Electronics today has revealed the full specifications of the Galaxy S25 Edge, a category-defining slim smartphone joining the Galaxy S series. Crafted with style and strength in mind, Galaxy S25 Edge strikes a new balance of premium, pro-level performance in a resilient titanium body only 5.8mm thick,” the company explains.
“S25 Edge delivers on the S series legacy, integrating an iconic Galaxy AI-enabled camera and unleashing a new realm of creativity in an effortlessly portable device.”
At just 163 grams, about the weight of a large apple, and about the thickness of a pencil, the Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a serious 200MP main camera, 12GB of RAM, and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of RAM. Under the hood is the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip you can find in the S25 Ultra.

Unfortunately for South Africans, the S25 Edge is not expected in the local market. We spoke to someone close to the matter and they explained that the type of market South Africa has will be a barrier for the device.
“Samsung won’t have it in this market,” they told us. “Because of its stack, and because South Africa is an operator driven market, so many of these products are sold on a contract basis. Therefore the stack and the pricing does not really give Samsung an opportunity to bring it to market now.”
