- Plentify and Conlog announced a partnership at Enlit Africa 2025.
- The pair plan to accelerate the rollout of smart utility solutions across Africa.
- They plan to natively integrate Plentify’s AI platform with Conlog’s smart meter technology.
2025 will prove a pivotal year for local smart utility firm Plentify, which made a name for itself in 2022 thanks to its hotbot solution for geysers. This as Plentify announced a strategic partnership with Conlog, which is Africa’s largest smart metering solutions provider.
The pair announced the partnership at Enlit Africa 2025, with there being a plan to accelerate the rollout of intelligent energy management solutions to households across the continent. Here, Conlog has established a presence in over 58 countries and over 17 million smart meters deployed globally.
“This partnership positions Plentify’s flagship products, HotBot and SolarBot, to scale rapidly through Conlog’s trusted distribution and utility networks. This means that millions of South African homeowners could soon save more, have more control and backup power from the infrastructure already in their homes,” the company shared in a release with Hypertext.
“Utilities are under increasing financial pressure as their highest-paying customers turn to rooftop solar to avoid grid instability and rising tariffs. This reduces utilities’ daytime revenue while increasing demand during costly peak periods. As a result, utilities are forced to impose double-digit annual tariff hikes, placing even more strain on households and businesses, causing further defection,” added Kailas Nair, chief growth officer at Plentify.
As for Conlog, it is focusing on its role as a vendor on the RT29 Transversal contract, which will position the partnership to accelerate smart energy adoption in municipalities across South Africa.
The RT29 contract seeks to streamline procurement for smart electricity and water meters, significantly reducing public procurement cycles.
“In the private sector, Conlog’s extensive reach into large residential complexes, estates, and property developers offers a ready-made platform to introduce bundled smart energy solutions to homeowners and communities. The partnership also opens doors to international markets, with Conlog’s footprint extending across the continent,” it explained.
“We are also exploring new routes to market, leveraging both public and private sector opportunities. As a panelist on the RT29 Transversal contract, we see the potential to integrate this technology into existing channels, providing intelligent load management solutions,” pointed out Logan Moodley, CEO of Conlog.
The pair also unpacked their long-term vision, which is to natively integrate Plentify’s AI platform with Conlog’s smart meter technology. This includes delivering a “holistic load management solution” that serves the entire energy value chain, from individual households to municipalities, and utilities.
“This full platform integration will provide homeowners with a home energy management solution that slashes their electricity bills without sacrificing comfort. At the same time, utilities will gain access to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) powered by everyday home appliances, unlocking new flexibility, reducing grid pressure, and accelerating a Just Energy Transition for all,” concluded Nair.
