Unboxing the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro

Huawei held its latest Innovative Product Launch event in Berlin last week, with a handful of new smartwatches being revealed by the company. One of those devices is the Watch Fit 4 Pro, which is the more premium of the Watch 4 series.

The new device went up for pre-order via the Huawei South Africa online store today, and is expected to ship to local customers by 3rd June 2025. Listed at R4 999 (RRP), Hypertext was seeded a review unit, which is also expected to be published in early-June, but before that, we thought it would be worthwhile to see what comes in the box when you purchase a Watch Fit 4 Pro.

Our particular review model is the Black colourway, with Blue and Green options available too. The latter is the hero device, and features a similar coloured strap and dial.

For the Black iteration, the dial is Red, which is one of the options Huawei brought into the country for last year’s device.

As for design, while subtle, there are some elements worth highlighting, such as the lines on the side of the watch face. Huawei may not like us saying this, but the moment we saw the Watch Fit 4 Pro, we immediately thought of it as a slimmed-down version of the Apple Watch Ultra, with the dial in particular, reminding us of the Cupertino-based company’s flagship wearable.

As for the rest of the device, it is quite similar to the regular Fit 4, with its rounded corners and square-ish design.

In terms of other notable elements, it supports Huawei’s TrueSense platform, which has focused more on well-being, sleep, and mindfulness for this year’s smartwatches. That said, the usual bevvy of sensors are present, along with the company Sunflower tracking technology to improve the accuracy of mapping for runs and outdoor workouts.

It is also worth pointing out that Huawei is offering up to 10 days of battery life on the Watch Fit 4 Pro, so it means the upgrades in terms of hardware are impacting battery life. Still, it is far better than other similarly priced options on the market.

As for the set-up process, Huawei continues to make it as simple and hassle-free as possible, with a simple scan of a QR code launching the Huawei Health app and the pairing protocol. As long as you have a Huawei ID login, you’re good to go, for both Android and iOS, so whatever you say about Huawei’s Google troubles, its smartwatches are still some of the easiest to use.

Shifting to what’s in the box, there is the usual reading material notifying users of how to use the Watch Fit 4 Pro and its warranty.

Added to this is a USB Type-A charging cable attached to the small charging pad. To pair with the aforementioned 10 days of battery life, the Watch Fit 4 also supports fast charging, needing 60 minutes to fully charge the smartwatch.

In terms of our first impressions, the body of the Watch Fit 4 is extremely lightweight at 30.4g (without strap), and the strap sits neatly, although we would have loved a longer strap option in the box. The sapphire glass display and titanium body also feel premium, and in the Black colourway, yields a sleek-looking device.

We will share all our thoughts on this smartwatch, as well as how it compares to its predecessor in the coming weeks.
