Tesla will live stream its robotaxi event on X

  • Tesla is set to host its robotaxi event at 19:00 PT later today.
  • The company has long been rumoured to have been working on the robotaxi, which has been prioritised by Tesla over a more affordable EV.
  • The reveal of the new EV is expected to result in a significant bump to Tesla’s stock.

By this time tomorrow, we should have all the details on Tesla’s robotaxi, also referred to as the Cybercab by Elon Musk. The new EV has long been rumoured, ever since Tesla noted that it was shifting strategy to focus on its development and pushing the creation of an affordable EV to the backburner.

Tesla is gearing up to reveal its new offering via a “We, Robot” event set to take place at 19:00 PT, or 4:00 tomorrow morning for South Africans. We understand the play on 2004’s Will Smith film I, Robot, but we’re not sure if anyone Tesla remembers the plot of the movie, in which an AI goes rogue and tries to subjugate humanity.

Anyways, for those wanting to tune into the robotaxi event, there is seemingly only one way to do so – X (formerly Twitter). It therefore looks like Musk is aiming to showcase his car company’s latest EV on his social media platform’s live streaming capabilities.

At the time of writing, the official Tesla YouTube channel features no placeholder video for an upcoming live stream, so we can only assume that Musk and co. plan to utilise the X platform as another test of live streaming.

To date, tests have proved poor, with an interview involving former US President Donald Trump failing to start as expected, and when it did, delivering a very poor live streaming experience.

Hopefully, there is some sort of backup in place, and a YouTube live stream will manifest at the eleventh hour, as the launch of the robotaxi is one that Tesla can ill afford to go poorly, especially given how troubled the release of the Cybertruck has been.

To tune into the live stream on X for yourself, head back here at 4:00 tomorrow morning, and hit play on the post embedded below.
