Looking for a fun way to while away the hours you’d usually spend staring at work? Great. Because have we got a link for you.

Google’s got a realtime search stream, a single page with blocks that refresh with search queries people are typing into Google. With just 25 squares visible at maximum (you can adjust the size of the grid) you will obviously not see every single one of the millions of queries that Google parses each second, but it’s still great to see what trends are hot right now.

Perhaps play a game and see how many times you spot a certain search term within a minute. Is that a new drinking game in the making? Why yes, we think it could be.

Eleven years ago Christo started writing about technology for one of South Africa's (then) leading computer magazines. His first review? A Samsung LCD monitor. Hey, it was hot news, back then. Nowadays he gets more excited about photography, cars, game consoles, and faster internet connections. He's sort of an Apple fan, but will take any opportunity to remind you about his Windows-powered home theatre PC and desire to own a vanilla Android tablet.   Currently uses: Apple 13-inch Macbook Pro with Retina Display, Apple iPhone 5, Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000, Audiofly AF78 Earphones, Xbox 360, Nikon D50.
