Registrations are now open for Startup Weekend Johannesburg, a three day event taking place on 16th, 17th and 18th August at the Microsoft Campus in Bryanston. There’s a packed schedule which includes presentations and coaching sessions by some of the city’s most experienced and successful entrepreneurs and tech people, including Saul Kropman, Sam Beckbessinger and Tendai Joe.

Like all good conferences these days, the schedule is somewhat chaotic blending the spirit of a hackathon, networking event and pitch for VC funding into a 54 hour period of madness. It’s a venue to learn new skills, meet potential business partners and chat with investors too – probably not to be missed if you’re thinking of launching your own business soon.

If that’s not quite enough to sate your appetite for all things start-y up-y, there’s a Tech Bootcamp running prior to the main event down at Jozihub. Microsoft, BlackBerry and Google representatives will all be on hand to prime budding entrepreneurs with tips for the weekend, before things kick off proper on the Friday evening.

Book your tickets here, it’s R500 for the weekend, plus R200 for the Bootcamp. Full details with all the speakers here.
