BlackBerry announced the 5 inch Z30

BlackBerry is going big, 5 inches big, with the freshly announced BlackBerry Z30. The Z30 still has the same display resolution as the Z10 (720 X 1280) but because of the larger screen the pixel density drops from 356ppi to 295ppi. RAM, internal storage and connectivity are the same as you’d find in the Z10 with the big change internally coming in the form of a new piece of silicon from Qualcomm which offers slightly better clock speeds but more importantly gives a new Adreno 320 graphics cores to replace the aging Adreno 225 cores in the Z10.

The battery will also get a massive boost with the increased footprint jumping from 1800 mAh to an impressive 2880 mAh which should see the Z10 lasting a full day even for the die hard road warriors.

On the software front, the Z30 will be the first BlackBerry 10 device to ship with the updated version 10.2 of the OS. The update brings Priority Hub which works in a similar way to Gmail’s Priority Inbox by prioritising your emails, texts and BBMs, along with your social networking communications. The update will allow users to preview messages anywhere in the UI and on the lockscreen and even reply to BBM messages while in any other app.
