City of Tshwane to give residents uncapped free WiFi this Christmas

The City of Tshwane will be playing Santa Claus these holidays by giving residents uncapped free WiFi for a limited time.

Through the Project Isizwe initiative, which handles the city’s free WiFi network, you’ll be able to use as much free internet as your heart desires from the 24th to 26th December.

This should probably come in handy if you want to catch up on some entertainment as you and your family wind down or if you’re going to be up to anything over the period.

“The ‘Christmas gift’ is possible due to many Tshwane residents leaving the city for holidays, reducing network load and creating an opportunity to provide users with more bandwidth at no extra cost to the city,” Alan Knott-Craig jnr, outgoing CEO of Project Isizwe told Fin24.

Project Isizwe recently celebrated one million unique users on the network and bumped its daily user cap from 250MB to 500MB.

It also announced that it will soon introduce a rewards system for rate payers who are up to date with their utility bills, giving them extra data usage once they’ve entered their rate payers’ account number.
