TIDAL of fury from fans who bought Kanye’s album, but weren’t told download isn’t available yet

Fans who bought Kanye West’s new album, THE LIFE OF PABLO [sic], on streaming service TIDAL have been left hanging as they found out they can only download it in a week’s time.

According to Reddit user, hansong, many have complained to TIDAL on Twitter and are requesting refunds because although they’ve paid the full amount for the album, they haven’t been sent the download link to the album.

Purchasing an album on TIDAL is a separate charge apart from the monthly $.99 subscription fee.

If the below tweets by West are to be believed, the delay was caused by him having to finish up one of the album’s tracks and not a fault on TIDAL’s side.

hansong, who is also apparently one of the TIDAL users who bought West’s album, sent a complaint via email to the company and received this response, explaining the situation:

Hello,

Our records indicate you purchased Kanye West’s ‘THE LIFE OF PABLO‘, and did not receive the album. A partial version of the album is available for streaming on TIDAL.com, but the download is currently not available.

The final version of the album will be released in the next several days. Upon the new release, we will send you a download of ‘THE LIFE OF PABLO’ to this email address. However, if you would like a refund, please respond directly to this email and our customer support team will assist you.

Thank you.

THE LIFE OF PABLO is the first Kanye West to be exclusively available on TIDAL and will only available through it and no other similar service or music store. Demand for the album was so high that sales of it for TIDAL sent the music streaming app rocketing to the top of the US iTunes download chart.

The album had already appeared on torrent sites upon its release and it looks like the confusion with TIDAL is causing more people to flock to these sites to get the full album, as some users under hansong’s post have posted links directing to it.

For now, fans will just have to be satisfied with streaming some of the album’s tracks.
