If you’re new to Netflix, you may have heard that the streaming entertainment service has collaborated with Marvel to produce a series of Daredevil – and it’s actually really good.
Netflix has just dropped the trailer for the second season of Daredevil and the big reveal that it contains will have comic book fanboys (and girls) wetting themselves.
It seems that Daredevil season 2 will feature Marvel’s grim-faced vigilante, The Punisher, and this in turn will mean that there will be an awful lot of blood, bullets, gunfights and cadavers – because that’s kind of The Punisher’s thing.
The Punisher is played by Jon Bernthal (from The Walking Dead, Mob City and The Wolf Of Wall Street) and he cuts quite the menacing figure. We expect The Punisher to be far more convincing in this series than in any of the terrible films that were made about this character – hey, it worked with Daredevil, right?
Maybe this is a new trend for Marvel; take characters that featured in awful films and stick them in a decent TV Show. The fact that Elektra turns up in the trailer’s final moments seems to confirm this.
If you’ve never seen Daredevil before, he’s essentially Marvel’s answer to Batman, a dark, brooding vigilante who batters the hell out of criminals, except with less gadgets, more agility and his turf is Hell’s Kitchen rather than an entire city. He also happens to be blind and he finds his way around using sonar.
If you’ve not watched the first season of Daredevil, we strongly recommend you do so. Unlike Netflix stablemates House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black, Daredevil is available to stream for South African audiences, no VPN required.
