The new Galaxy A6+ is Samsung’s Swiss Army knife of a smartphone

When pondering about your next smartphone purchase, it’s often the headline grabbing flagship phones that get a lot of attention.

But look past the all-screen displays, dual-lens cameras and R12 000-plus price tags and there is plenty of value for money to be found in the mid-range tier of the local smartphone market.

That said, you’ll still need to sift through the vast number of devices out there to find one that can do it all.

Case in point the latest offering from Samsung – the Galaxy A6+.

Delving deeper into the various aspects of the A6+, let’s start with the display which features Samsung’s Super AMOLED manufacturing process to result in a FullHD+ screen that is both bright and vivid with a 1 080 X 2 220 resolution.

At the heart of the Galaxy A6+ is a 1.8GHz octa-core processor, which is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. This mix yields a device that can keep up with its user when it comes to multitasking.

Now for one of the most important part to any modern smartphone experience – the cameras. Samsung has fitted a 16 MP and 5MP lens on the back of the A6+, with each mustering an f/1.7 and f/1.9 aperture respectively. Aided by Samsung’s image stabilisation technology, the A6+ is never going to leave you in the lurch when a great picture is needed.

Along with a camera setup to give most flagship phones a run for their money, the Galaxy A6+ comes with a microSD slot good for an extra 256GB, along with a fingerprint sensor to keep prying eyes out and Android 8.0 (Oreo) taking care of the operating system.

What else do you need from your smartphone?

LTE connectivity? Yes. Dolby Atmos optimised audio? Check. Nice price? The Galaxy A6+ costs R6 499.

If you’re in the market for a smartphone that ticks all boxes without breaking the bank, the Galaxy A6+ is the go-to choice for 2018.
