After a few behind the scenes shots and promotional stills, we finally have the first trailer for Captain Marvel ahead of its 8th March 2019 release.

Before we go any further, this trailer is relatively spoiler free with the only real plot point revealed coming from the nature of one of the bad guys. If you want to go in completely blind, however, leave now.

Yes you may notice Brie Larson as Carol Danvers is doing something most superheroes don’t do in this trailer: punching old ladies right in the face.

This is because the shapeshifting Skrulls are going to be in this movie, and they’ve likely taken the form of the old woman here. We highly doubt Marvel is going to provide any other reason for Captain Marvel to be punching the elderly, even though we’ve seen many heroes and villains get quite rough with the World War 2 veterans Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

Aside from that it’s a standard Marvel trailer. There is some more info to dig for like the well-known Captain Marvel mohawk and helmet making an appearance in some of the darker scenes, and there’s the one item from Infinity War that makes an appearance.

Finally, as much as the Blockbuster store bit at the beginning was on the nose, we can’t think of a better way to quickly convey the fact that this movie is set in the 90’s outside of Larson immediately donning her finest windbreaker instead of the blue, red and gold suit.

Speaking of Blockbuster, the artist RJ Pierce created this comic just hours after the trailer dropped. The internet does work fast.
