While FNB customers can earn eBucks by using Uber and Uber Eats, there hasn’t been a way to earn rewards through Bolt or Bolt Food.
Today, Absa has announced that it has partnered with Bolt so that Absa Rewards members can earn cash back.
According to a press release, members will be able to earn up to 30 percent cash back on Bolt rides nationwide and up to 30 percent cash back on food orders through Bolt Food.
What is notable about this partnership is that this is the first time Bolt has partnered with a bank rewards programme anywhere in the world.
The hope is that through this partnership more folks opt to use Bolt’s services says country manager Gareth Taylor.
“Our focus is on the thousands of South African drivers who rely on Bolt to connect them with passengers and earn a steady income. This partnership with Absa introduces even more passengers to the Bolt platform, making it possible for drivers to connect with more opportunities to earn an income, so that they can continue to care for their families and loved ones,” Taylor said in a statement.
As for Absa, it says that this partnership signals that beginning of a drive to reward more of its customers for using digital services.
“This partnership marks the inception of Absa Rewards’ new Digital Lifestyle offering, which will reward our customers with big discounts on a variety of digital services. This includes entertainment, gaming, streaming, e-hailing and food delivery services, while giving back real cash. These benefits will be rolled out throughout 2020,” said managing executive for customer value management at Absa Retail and Business Bank, Christine Wu.
We’re curious to see what other rewards Absa has up its sleeve.
Of course, in order to access these rewards you will need to be an Absa Rewards member. Absa and Bolt say that customers have been earning rewards since 1st August 2020 if they used Bolt or Bolt Food.
We are curious to see whether Bolt sees more business as a result of this announcement and partnership with Absa.
It likely can’t hurt and the prospect of earning something back right now, no matter how small it may seem, is something we’d all enjoy during these unprecedented times.
