Last week we noted that the number of new daily infections for COVID-19 in South Africa peaked past the 2k mark on consecutive days. As such we were interested to see what the following week would hold, but according to the latest figures from the National Department of Health (NDoH), things are following a familiar trend.
This as only 891 new cases from been reported, pushing the current total for cases in the country to date to 716 759.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen the number of new cases steadily incline as the week progresses, and this week is looking to be much of the same.
Along with the new total for infections to date, the NDoH confirmed that 646 721 recoveries have been recorded, along with more than 4.7 million tests having been conducted.
Showing no signs of moving, the recovery rate consequently sits at 90 percent, which it has done for a number of weeks now.
Shifting focus to fatalities, unfortunately 40 new deaths have been reported by the NDoH, as the toll rises to 19 008.
