Condor is a 4-player PvE spin-off of Control

Boy we sure packed a lot of adjectives into that headline, didn’t we? Developer Remedy Entertainment has announced that it is once again partnering with publisher 505 Games to make a new multiplayer experience set in the world of Control with the new title called Condor.

While Control is far from any game we’d think of as needing a multiplayer mode, Condor will see four players in co-op fighting enemies (PvE), as opposed to any player versus player (PvP) shenanigans.

Despite our scepticism we can actually see this working out. The main character of Control, Jesse, was basically a superhero that players got to have a fun power fantasy with, but the rest of the characters in the game would be ripe for a co-op experience.

The Federal Bureau of Control was / is filled with regular agents and employees that could be played as a more grounded experience.

If we were the betting sort we’d wager that Condor would take place at the outbreak of The Hiss as agents from the FBC team up and fight to survive. This will likely be a third person shooter experience and upgrades could take the form of these regular agents gaining some nerfed versions of Jesse’s powers.

Hell maybe players could even decide to intentionally become infected by The Hiss to some degree to gain otherworldly powers to survive.

This level of guessing is needed on our part as very little about Condor has been revealed. Outside of four player PvE the announcement is barren when it comes to details with the budget receiving more attention than the game:

“Condor’s initial development budget amounts to EUR 25 million. The development and marketing investments will be equally split between 505 Games and Remedy Entertainment as well as the future net revenues generated by the game,” the announcement adds.

Condor, which is a codename for the game by the way, will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

For now all we have to look at is the concept art below. From this it kind of seems like our guess about playing as four FBC agents is correct. The art here once again reminds us of Loki.
