On Tuesday Twitter users noticed that the ability to see tweets in chronological order on the Twitter website had disappeared.
Many, ourselves included, assumed that Twitter had finally taken the leap and forced users to see the tweets the platform thought most relevant, just like Instagram.
Thankfully, this feature was actually a bug that has now been fixed.
Tweets in chronological order on web has been fixed –– the option to switch your Home timeline view to latest Tweets first was removed for some of you on web. We’ve fixed this and the option should now be available again for everyone.

The confusion this bug caused wasn’t unwarranted.
In a now updated Help Center article, Twitter stated that the ability to choose between viewing top tweets or latest tweets first was only available for Twitter’s iOS and Android apps.
Twitter also often tests new features before rolling them out to a wider audience and it’s likely folks assumed this was one of those tests.
Thankfully your Twitter timeline on the web should be back to normal. We highly recommend giving the Twitter Support account a follow for news about updates and to pop the service a tweet if you spot an oddity.
