Call of Duty: Vanguard announced, with full reveal slated for 19th August

There is a new COD property on the way, with Activision announcing Call of Duty: Vanguard last night. The latest instalment in the franchise received a teaser trailer (pasted below), with a full reveal slated for 19th August at 19:30 local time in one of the company’s other IPs – Warzone.

There is little to go on right now, with only Sledgehammer Games involvement as developer being mentioned. The studio has been responsible for some of COD’s more recent outings, including Advanced Warfare and WWII. The latter was particularly story-driven and a nice bit of nostalgia for those who remember what Call of Duty games use to be.

As for what Vanguard will serve up, that remains to be seen, with the aforementioned trailer seemingly jumping to battles from different eras. The fact that it will be revealed in Activision’s free-to-play battle royale also does little to un-muddy the waters as to what Call of Duty: Vanguard is.

Given Battlefield 2042 has gone the solely multiplayer route and allowing players to use gear, weapons and vehicles from different eras in order to create customised arenas, it would not surprise us if Activision has gone a similar route with Vanguard.

That said, all will be revealed come 19th August. In order to watch the reveal, you’ll need to be logged into Warzone at 19:30 and specifically be participating in the Battle for Verdansk event. For those not keen on this route, it is unclear how the reveal will be showcased, so it may be best to tune into the Call of Duty YouTube channel on the day.
