The LEGO Star Wars Halloween animations are free on YouTube

It’s still quite some time before Halloween 2021 but LEGO has invited people to get into festivities early with a collection of animated shorts available for free on YouTube.

Subtitled “Celebrate the Season“, the toy company has released five short animations which are between 90 and 105 seconds each.

Click on the names of each short below to watch them on YouTube. A compilation which combines all five shorts and plays them back to back is also available here.

These shorts pull from the movies as well as the Disney+ shows The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch.

Our favourite of these is “Carving Up the Competition” which has Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul participating in a pumpkin carving contest with lightsabres. If that sentence didn’t tip you off these animations are not at all serious and meant for the younger people in the audience.

Interestingly the “Scary Starship” prominently features what was originally called the Slave I. The starship of Jango and Boba Fett recently had its name changed so we thought it would be flying under the radar for the time being.

While these animations are short the quality is outstanding. The animators put a lot of effort into making these look like actual LEGO pieces so you can see the different textures in the bricks and other details such as signs being made with a plastic / paper sticker on a plastic LEGO element.

The playlist for the animations includes something that isn’t on YouTube: a trailer for the upcoming “LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales” special.

This will be released on Disney+ on 1st October which, again, is still far away from the actual day of Halloween on 31st October.

Unfortunately for us in South Africa, and many other countries, there is still no legal way to access Disney+ content. Oh well, maybe next Halloween.
