Publisher Devolver Digital has asked the public for games testers to try out a VR title in what it calls “The Beta Squadron”.
Those who want to participate can head here to fill out a form that has the following nine questions:
- “What is your name?
- What is your email?
- Where in the world are you located?
- What language(s) do you use most often?
- Which of the following upcoming games are you looking forward to the most?
- Which of the following genres are your favorite?
- What platform(s) do you have access to and are willing to test games on?
- Have you tested games before?
- I agree to Devolver’s Terms, Conditions and Privacy Policy.”
There’s a few interesting things we can see just from this form, especially question five which talks about upcoming games.
The list of options is full of Devolver Digital games we’ve heard of before such as Shadow Warrior 3, Weird West, Cult of the Lamb, South African game Terra Nil and more.
One option is simply called “Unannounced VR Title” and we have to imagine that this is what the company is hoping to test with members of The Beta Squadron.
The most popular VR game currently published by Devolver Digital is likely Gorn (pictured above) another South African game developed by Free Lives.
That’s just speculation on our part as no actual details are provided about what games will be tested by those who sign up, and what non-disclosure agreement(s) will need to be signed.
Also not mentioned is any kind of remuneration offered to testers. Devolver Digital is now a public company with an estimated value nearing a billion USD so we’d hope that anyone putting in the time to playtest a game and provide feedback will receive something back.
We’re scrounging around looking for some game testers for a VR game that:
* love VR with their whole body
* can keep sweet, sweet NDA secrets
* have experience bug hunting
* can give structured feedbackhttps://t.co/A5tKNzdTTv pic.twitter.com/6fjMmhejKS— Devolver Digital (@devolverdigital) November 15, 2021
