Unisa hosting free ‘Enhance Your Employability’ event this Black Friday

Tomorrow, 26th November, is Black Friday, a day where many people intend to spend money, but the University of South Africa (Unisa) is looking in the opposite direction towards earning money by working with a special webinar.

The event is called “Enhance Your Employability” and is intended to provide recipients with skills and information they would need when seeking work.

“The purpose of the session is to help UNISA students enhance their employability skills for the global work environment. This will be implemented through an awareness about 4IR skills needed by potential employers, practical CV writing skills and strategies for success in virtual interviews,” an announcement PDF reads.

To take part in the event participants need these two links to the registration form and the livestream on Microsoft Teams.

While the registration form can technically be skipped, the details provided there will be used to send you workshop notes and an evaluation form.

The Unisa Enhance Your Employability programme can be found below. It starts at 9AM and goes for just over four hours. We really like when event organisers offer this information to participants, especially for webinars where people may need to fit the contents into their work day or pick and choose to participate in certain parts during their lunch break.

  • 09:00 – 09:15 | Welcome and purpose (Mr Nkgoang)
  • 09:15-09:40 | Self-awareness: Transferable skills and how to develop them (Dr Sitshange)
  • 09:40- 10:15 | What employers want from students and graduates (Mr Ngozi)
  • 10:15- 11:15 | Practical CV writing skills: EC Department of Employment and Labour
  • 11:15- 11:45 | Interview preparation skills / a focus on virtual interviews (UNISA EC HR)

With employment in South Africa in a dire state worsened by the pandemic and its lockdowns, events like this (especially free ones) are much appreciated.
