The latest report from the National Department of Health (NDoH) regarding COVID-19 in South Africa shows that the number of fatalities linked to the virus have picked up in the past 24 hours.
To that end, the NDoH says 132 new cases have been reported over the past 24 hours, as the death toll related to COVID-19 in South Africa climbs to 94 397.
As has been the case over the past two weeks, the infographic for the daily NDoH report has also been accompanied by a notice regarding the audit process that the department is undergoing.
“Due to the ongoing audit exercise by the National Department of Health (NDoH), there may be a backlog of COVID-19 mortality cases reported. Today, the NDoH reports 132 deaths and of these, 23 occurred in the past 24 – 48 hours. This brings the total fatalities to 94,397 to date,” it explains.
As for the other key statistics in the report, the past 24 hours has seen 3 197 new cases recorded as the total number of infections to date has reached 3 585 888.
The recovery rate remains at 95.3 percent, with 3 418 123 recoveries being reported and over 22.07 million tests being conducted to date.
Looking at the vaccine rollout, turnout remains an issue as only 82 572 jabs have been administered. As of 17:00 on 25th January 2022, a total of 29 540 132 vaccines have been administered across the country.
