Don’t forget to cancel your Game Pass Crunchyroll subscription

Back on 10th November 2021 we brought you news that Microsoft was giving out 75-day Crunchyroll Premium subscriptions to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users and now that time is almost up.

If you subscribed to Crunchyroll Premium on that exact date it means that around 70 days have passed since then, leaving you just a few days to cancel before your credit card is charged the $9.99 (~R154.53) for the service.

To prevent that from happening you need to cancel the subscription before you are charged. An official guide on how to do this is available on Crunchyroll’s help sub site here.

We signed up using a credit card through the Game Pass Ultimate steps outlined here as we imagine many people did.

Our process for cancelling was as follows:

  1. Visit the Crunchyroll website.
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. Click on “Profile” in the top right corner and then on “Settings”.
  4. Under “Account Settings” on the left, click on “Premium Membership Status”.
  5. Under the “Action” section there should be a “Cancel Free Trial” button. Click on this button and follow the prompts.
  6. To check that your subscription is now cancelled, return to this page and the “Cancel Free Trial Button” should be replaced by one reading “Automatically renew my Membership”.

If you’re so inclined you can also answer a survey from Crunchyroll which seeks to find out why you cancelled and if you have any plans of re-subscribing. There’s no option to mention the free trial, but you can fill that in thanks to the text box under survey question four.

For those who are a bit late to the party and want to make use of this offer instead of cancelling it, there is still time.

“New Crunchyroll customers only. Automatic renewal unless cancelled. Not available in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong SAR. 1 per account. Claim by 2/8/2022. Redeem by 3/8/2022. Full Crunchyroll and Game Pass Terms & Conditions can be found here,” reads the announcement.
