Megan Nicholas to head up Supersonic after being appointed new MD

MTN this morning has announced two new appointments at the C-Suite level, with Michele Gamberini as its new chief technology and information officer (CTIO) effective 1st February 2022 and Megan Nicholas (pictured in header image) named as new managing director at Supersonic, which is an MTN-supported ISP.

It is the latter announcement that immediately grabs our attention as Supersonic has been working hard to make inroads in the local residential broadband market. To that end, MTN has outlined a specific goal for Nicholas and her team, with Supersonic aiming to achieve a 30 percent market share by 2025.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to grow our Supersonic business in this ever-changing environment, we consider this appointment as one of the strategic levers. Megan’s extensive experience across the broadband sector is recognised as a vital driver to achieve our growth ambitions in this highly innovative space,” explained MTN SA CEO, Charles Molapisi, in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“I am very excited to be leading the execution against our 2025 strategy to ‘own the home’, and I believe that Supersonic is an important contributor to achieving that ambition,” added Nicholas.

Having been a part of the MTN team as its general manager for the residential segment over the past year, now Nicholas will be looking to assist Supersonic with its objectives.

As such, the coming months should prove interesting and hopefully the announcement of new products to complement the current AirFibre offerings are on the way.

“With Megan’s strong determination and dedication, and her ability to build high-performance teams, we are confident that her leadership will not only boost the performance of our Supersonic business, but also move us even closer to realising our ambition and vision,” concluded Molapisi.
