Steam Ends January with a Lunar New Year Sale

January just won’t die and there’s yet another sale to try and get you to spend more money in the form of the Steam Lunar New Year Sale.

Live now until 3rd February the sale is of course to coincide with the Lunar New Year which is an event more popular in many Asian countries, though Western companies are adopting it more to make money.

The art which you can see above as well as the other branded content made for this were created by artists Camelia Pham and Chu-Chieh Lee. You can enjoy some of their work by heading to the Steam Points Shop and claiming a new daily animated sticker.

Our random allotment was a tiger with a monocle that winks, aptly named “Smug”.

Once we claimed the sticker we’re met with a countdown timer of 11 hours and 30 minutes until we can get another one.

For those who simply want to use their Steam Points to outright buy cosmetic items, you can do so here, but there’s only two available in the form of a game profile (5 000 points) and an emoticon (100 points). More will likely become available as the sale progresses.

It’s a bit sad that the most interesting part of a new Steam sale is the cosmetic items as the sales themselves are all the same ever since Valve abandoned limited-time steep discounts that really rewarded those who would hunt for deals.

As always the best way to shop during Steam sales is to use your wishlist. The Steam wishlist allows you to sort by percentage discount and by outright price making it a great way to quickly see what games you’ve been wanting now have the best deal.

If your wishlist is looking a bit barren use this sale to beef it up. Even if you don’t buy anything in this sale, it will help you in the future.
