The 8th annual Blockchain Africa Conference hosted by Bitcoin Events is set to take place on 17th and 18th March. As the COVID-19 pandemic is still around, the event will be taking place online for the second year running.

The premier sponsor of this year’s event is Dafribank, a branchless fintech firm providing customised financial services to clients in 180 countries including South Africa, Nigeria and Botswana.

The event comes as collective sentiment and adoption of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies continues to increase, and as such the theme for the conference is “Ready for Business?”.

Various aspects of blockchain technology will discussed including how the private and public sectors are moving toward solutions that leverage the tech. This is especially interesting if you are at all interested in regulation.

“The conference will unpack some of the challenges facing the industry particularly with regards to regulation. South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Senior FinTech Specialist, Herco Steyn, will present a regulatory update within the context of South Africa, including central-bank specific topics and initiatives by the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) and SARB,” says Bitcoin Events.

The event will feature more than 45 speakers and the following have already been confirmed.
