The Nova 9a is Huawei’s latest HMS-powered mid-range offering

Over the past 12 months Huawei has been ratcheting up its number of Nova devices available locally, with four in that time. Now we can add a fifth, with the Nova 9a teased earlier this week before going up for pre-order, and now more details on the device have been shared.

To that end, pricing and availability, with the Nova 9a recommended to retail for R6 499 and available to purchase after 31st January, when the aforementioned pre-order offer ends.

So what does that buy you?

Well in terms of designs, it looks like Huawei is sticking with an aesthetic we have become familiar with when it comes to this lineup, with the circular camera housing on the rear being the most notable element.

Said housing features an equally familiar 64MP quad camera setup as Huawei terms it, with a 64MP primary lens paired with an 8MP wide-angle option, 2MP depth sensing and 2MP macro.

Switching to the front, a 6.63″ FullView display is present and virtually no notch as there is a pop-up selfie camera added to the mix, which is a relatively new aspect to Huawei phones launched locally.

Other specifications worth pointing out include a 4 200mAh battery that supports 40W SuperCharge that can deliver 70 percent battery life in 30 minutes. Added to this is 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, with the microSD slot good for a further 256GB.

While many are still on the fence when it comes to Huawei phones of late, especially given some of the limitations of the HMS ecosystem when it comes to Google app support, it looks like the company is aiming to deliver well priced and specced phones in SA in order to win over more consumers.
