Entries open for EDHE entrepreneurship Competition

Students with a mind for business should take note of the opening of entries for the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) Entrepreneurship Intervarsity 2022 contest.

The contest, as you may have guessed by the name, is focused on the entrepreneurial spirit of South Africa’s university student body and is looking for submissions of new business ideas or innovative ones currently being operated by students.

“The purpose of the [contest] is to identify the top student entrepreneurs at the South African public universities, recognise and showcase their businesses, and invite investment into this cohort of student businesses. The competition also provides opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs in the ideation phase to pitch their innovative business ideas. In the process, universities will have the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial talent and demonstrate the ways in which they support and grow the next generation of business leaders,” reads the website.

Prize money to the value of R100 000 is on the line so it’s a substantial windfall for the young business people who take home the win.

As you can see by this timeline the EDHE Entrepreneurship Intervarsity 2022 will conclude in November with several stages to the contest happening before then.

The most important date there, at least for the time being, is the closing date for applications on 3rd April.

The entries for the contest opened recently and many universities are encouraging their students to participate. The University of Johannesburg, for example, just put out a general call on Twitter (see below) which includes details for participating online and an email contact to get in touch with.

Students should contact their own universities for more information if none is available openly and / or head on over to the official EDHE website for more.
