LEGO Brawls revealed for later this year

The big LEGO game on the horizon is Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but a new game has been revealed in the form of LEGO Brawls.

This 2D fighter has a large emphasis on customising your minifigure, co-op and playing through several of LEGO’s worlds that it has fleshed out in toys over the years.

“LEGO Brawls, developed in partnership with RED Games, is a fast-paced LEGO take on multiplayer platforming, full of building, rebuilding and uniquely LEGO brick humor. The key inspiration for the title is a game where players literally build their own Heroes. By design, winning is a team-collaboration, working together to build and control contraptions within the levels, while battling the other team,” reads the game description.

RED Games, according to their website, has worked on quite a few mobile games involving big licences. This includes games like Transformers: Tactical Arena, Beyblade Burst, Boxtrolls, two different games based on Crayola and more.

This mobile lineage can really be felt in the trailer for this new game (see the embed below).

While it was just announced we’re really finding it hard to get excited about this one. The gameplay looks like nothing special and it seems there’s very little here for those who aren’t very young kids or diehard LEGO fans who want to play this just for the branding.

On that note the one interesting part of this reveal is the inclusion of Monkie Kid. This range of toys is loosely based on Journey to the West, but has a really cool aesthetic that would be great for its own standalone game.

LEOG Brawls is planned for release “later this summer”. That should be between June and August for the rest of us that use dates instead of the seasons to announce releases.

As for availability it will be on just about every platform: Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The only group of devices left out here is Android.
