The phone and tablet port of the popular battle royale Apex Legends – simply called Apex Legends Mobile – is still not widely available but those in certain countries and territories are included in the soft launch which as been updated.

“Calling all legends in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru Indonesia Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand: The soft launch for Apex Legends Mobile is coming! Pre-Registration is only available in these countries via the Google Play store, so visit the link below to participate. For all other legends. [including iOS players], stay tuned for more!” reads the update.

Strangely, when we visit the page, we don’t get the usual error message about it not being available in our region. Instead it tells us that our device is not compatible.

That little oddity aside, if you are in one of the selected countries you should see a button to pre-register. All this really does is allow the Google Play Store to send you a push notification once the game is available for download.

Despite these limited test releases of the game so far the store still reports that it has been downloaded more than a million times already.

Unfortunately, as this isn’t a full public release, the reviews aren’t enabled right now so we can’t get a consensus on how the port is shaping up. Written and video reviews for the game already exist from content creators but it’s always good to look at the general public reception.

Finally it’s worth mentioning that you may see ways to unofficially access Apex Legends Mobile by downloading third party APKs for it on Android. We highly recommend against this due to the massive security concerns. Google and third parties have time and again warned about the massive security risks users take when using sideloaded apps, so it’s best to just wait for something official to be released.
