Today is the day, after many months of waiting Destiny 2’s latest expansion – The Witch Queen – launches at 19:00 local time.
It’s a bit tough to get excited however, especially if you are playing the game on PlayStation 4. Early this morning Bungie revealed that there was an issue with the Required Content download for the PlayStation 4.
While players can download a 3GB patch, the larger Required Content download will only become available at 19:00 on Tuesday evening.
Due to an unforeseen issue, PS4 Required Content is not yet available for download. Players using the PS4 version of Destiny 2 can download these files at 9 AM PST tomorrow when Update 4.0.0.1 becomes available.
All Required Content is ~72 GB total.

This means PlayStation 4 players will likely have to wait a while before being able to play the game at all.

The PlayStation 4 pre-load issue isn’t the only one though and Bungie has detailed a number of problems it has already identified. We will expand this list if more issues are discovered throughout the course of the day.
Before that and before you sign in this evening you should enable Cross Save. This is because the Season Pass will be applied to the first set of characters that signs in so if you plan to use Cross Save, enable it now.
The list of issues follows below:
- The recommended Power level for the PsiOps Battlegrounds playlist does not display on activity launch. The recommended Power for this playlist is 1500
- Overload auto rifle and SMG Artifact mods do not successfully disrupt the health regeneration of Overload Champions after a stun
- Opening the character screen on Xbox consoles with a full inventory may result in a large framerate drop
- The Grave Robber perk on The Enigma glaive is currently disabled and cannot be activated. This perk will be re-enabled in an upcoming Hotfix.
- Glaive melee kills do not count toward kill tracker progress and certain melee-triggered perks.
- Certain Ghost tracking mods do not display destination material or chest locations when in the Throne World
- Enemies with the Volatile debuff may not count for bounty progress when defeated using area of effect damage
- Certain player buffs and debuffs may be missing associated icons
Any additional issues will be detailed on the Bungie Help page after 19:00 and we highly recommend following Bungie’s support team on Twitter.
There’s no word on when these problems will be fixed but we suspect it will be a week, possibly longer given how long fixes have taken in the past.
There are also bound to be issues with logging into the game this evening, even with PS4 players mostly out of the picture at launch time. As such, temper your expectations, have something to eat and wait in the queue.
