Makazole Mapimpi documentary coming to Showmax Pro on 27th March

For anyone who watched Chasing The Sun, the documentary series that chronicled the Springboks winning the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the story of winger Makazole Mapimpi was easily one of the best.

This as his journey to wearing the Green and Gold involved a lot of sacrifice and heartbreak, even bringing coach at the time Rassie Erasmus to tears in the documentary.

Now, Mapimpi’s story is being told in a new documentary titled Map1mp1. The documentary is heading to Showmax Pro this weekend, with subscribers to the premium tier of Showmax capable of watching it come 27th March.

“Map1mp1 is a hero’s journey like no other, considering the trials and tribulations Makazole had to tackle,” notes director Bongani Morgan in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“The documentary is an exploratory story of how a single moment at the Rugby World Cup had the potential to motivate a generation of boys and girls in South Africa. Predictably, it is a complex and refined story that is given due care by the creators of the film,” the press release adds.

Singing up for Showmax Pro costs R225 per month, and given the fact that MultiChoice has chosen to limit multiple device streaming on DStv Now, it might be a good time to think about services like ShowMax Pro, which still cater to more than one device at a time.

Either way, the story of Makazole Mapimpi is one we are eager to watch.
