Uber Eats is adding group orders and bill splitting

During the pandemic we have relied heavily on apps like Uber Eats to keep us fed and, over the past couple of years, the platform has been adding new features to make things easier for customers.

To that end Uber Eats has announced a pair of features made with more than one person in mind. This as group orders and bill splitting has now been added to the mix for the service.

“Now, for the first-time ever on a delivery app, anyone can create a group and allow individuals to order from the same restaurant and pay for whatever they’d like. Once everyone has placed their individual orders, those orders are added to the group cart for you (the host) to checkout,” explains the company in a recent blog post.

“All of the food for the group will arrive at the same time, so you can enjoy your meals together,” it adds.

Along with bill splitting, Uber Eats has added a handful of other group-focused features. These include the ability to create deadlines can be set up to seven days in advance, so everyone can get their order in, as well as order reminders for group members.

At the time of writing it remains to be seen when these features will be rolling out to South Africa, but this looks to be a globally available product so be on the lookout for alerts or notifications on your mobile app.
