Early bookings open for Doctor Strange 2 in South Africa

South Africans who want to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ahead of the normal release can now book to see it a day early.

The regular release of the movie is Friday, 6th May, but bookings are now open for Thursday, 5th May, at night.

Both Ster-Kinekor and Nu Mu Metro have opened their websites up to take orders and you can click on the name of your preferred chain to see when and where showings will be available.

According to a press release we received from Disney South Africa, screenings will be happening from 19:00 local time onward. This is dependant on the cinema, however, as the closest one to us only has a showing at 20:00.

The Doctor Strange sequel is just over two hours long with the run time on IMDB listed as 126 minutes. Keep that in mind when making plans as you’ll likely be leaving the theatre and arriving home rather late on Thursday.

Unlike The Batman, which only allowed its early screenings to be shown in IMAX, this movie will be available in various formats. This is very much welcomed as IMAX tickets are much more expensive. Also, not every cinema branch has an IMAX screen, which greatly limited who could go and see The Batman early.

For these earlier showings of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness a few select cinemas will have this available in 2D, but the majority seem to be 3D. If you’re stuck going to see a 3D version remember to take existing glasses you may already have, otherwise you will need to pay extra to get them with your tickets and snacks.

Along with the launch of tickets we also have a new and very short trailer for the movie. Entitled “Dream”, these shorter teasers are usually labelled as TV spots though this one isn’t.

This video is notable for giving us a closer look at the zombie Doctor Strange and what seems to be an evil version of the character with a third eye.
