POCO X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro launched in SA

At the beginning of March this year, POCO announced some new affordable mid-range devices in the form of the POCO X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro. At the time now confirmation of a local release was made, but this week the Xiaomi sub-brand has unveiled these devices for SA.

This as both the POCO X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro are being made available via local online retailers.

To that end, the POCO M4 Pro is ready to purchase in two colours – Power Black and Cool Blue – in 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage configurations, with a recommended retail price of R4 499 via the likes of Takealot and Everyshop.

As for the more premium of the two phones, the POCO X4 Pro 5G will retail from R6 999 (RRP) in Laser Black and Laser Blue, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage from Takealot and Everyshop.

While both devices look good on paper, it is the X4 Pro 5G that immediately grabs our attention, namely as there have been a number of affordable 5G-supporting mid-range phones launched in SA of late, so it will be interesting to see how the POCO offering measures up.

In terms of some of the key specifications of the device, a large 6.67″ AMOLED display is present that supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a FullHD+ 2400×1080 resolution. Added to this is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor under the hood to power the device and serve up the aforementioned 5G connectivity.

Other notable components include a 16MP selfie camera up front, along with a sizeable 108MP primary lens on the rear that is paired with a 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro lenses.

There is also a mammoth 5 000mAh battery that facilitates 67W fast charging that can deliver up to 70 percent battery capacity in 22 minutes.

While POCO remains a relatively unknown brand in SA, with Xiaomi intensifying its presence in SA, we should no doubt see more POCO phones landing locally in the coming months and years.
