Supersonic begins rolling out 5G offering

For those who insist on being at the bleeding edge of technology, 5G is an alluring prospect and now MTN’s Supersonic has announced it will begin rolling out 5G connectivity.

The 5G offering comes in two flavours. While both are uncapped packages, there are two different fair usage policy. The cheaper package – 5G Lite – which costs R699 per month, has a fair usage policy of 400GB while the more expensive 5G Premium package has a fair usage policy of 1TB at a cost of R999 per month.

These prices are significantly more expensive than Supersonic’s fixed wireless broadband offerings as you can see in the table below. It’s also worth noting that many areas of South Africa don’t have 5G access so coverage may vary wildly.

Plan  Price  FUP
Uncapped FLTE Lite R499 400GB
Uncapped FLTE Premium R699 1TB
Uncapped 5G Lite R699 400GB
Uncapped 5G Premium R999 1TB

“Our aim is to consistently provide additional affordable options for more people to access high-quality solutions, with low latency and stable download speeds. We are extremely excited to build on our FLTE and Air fibre innovations to now bring the cutting-edge benefits of 5G to our users,” explains managing director at Supersonic, Megan Nicholas.

“5G technology greatly enhances the number of devices that can be connected to a network without losing quality. It brings the cutting-edge benefits of greater speed and more stability, ensuring users access new opportunities, whether it’s working, learning, playing, or just staying in touch with family and friends,” the MD adds.

These 5G packages are now available on Supersonic’s website and you can see if you have coverage in your area by following the prompts on that page.
