May / June 2022 Matric rewrites enter third week

The May / June 2022 Matric examination rewrites continue this week as South African students march towards finishing their attempts at new papers.

The almost 300 000 students have already finished the first fortnight, but there’s still a long way to go before the seven weeks are up. The last exam will happen on Thursday, 23rd June.

This third week covers a large array of topics including Physical Sciences, Afrikaans, Accounting and more. Equally varied is the length of the papers with the shortest being one and a half hours and the longest three hours.

Below is the Matric exam rewrites schedule for the third week with a full schedule available on the government website here as a PDF.

You will notice that, on both, there is no exam in the 09:00 slot on Friday, 27th May. We’re not entirely sure why this is as it’s the only unused slot in the entire seven week schedule.

The only other exception will be on 16th June where no exams will be written at all as it’s the public holiday of Youth Day.

We’re sure there’s some behind the scenes reason for this but it would have likely been better for the students writing in the 14:00 session to write earlier so they could have finished up for the weekend to get some rest and to begin studying for other exams.
