Yesterday LEGO revealed its latest Technic Ultimate Car in the form of the Ferrari Daytona SP3, and now we have its South African pricing.
Local LEGO and Ferrari fans will need to fork over R6 999, according to a new listing by the official online LEGO store in the country.
Here is the pricing for the set in other territories for comparison, accompanied by the current conversion into Rands at the time of publication:
- $399.99 ≈ R6 278.74
- AU$659.99 ≈ R7 352.12
- CA$499.99 ≈ R6 105.24
- €399.99 ≈ R6 712.61
- £349.99 ≈ R6 880.98
As usual the European and UK prices are the closest comparison due to the fact that they both include tax (unlike the US pricing) and South African RRP are usually based on them.
In South Africa we will be paying a few hundred Rand more which is to be expected for a product this big.
And big the Daytona SP3 is with 3 778 pieces in the box. When assembled the car is supposed to be 1:8 scale with dimensions of 24 X 59 X 25 centimetres (height X length X width).
As the build is based on the Technic build style instead of regular System bricks, you can expect some functionality in here such as an eight-speed sequential gearbox, V12 engine and butterfly doors. Those doors are a real showpiece here as they open with a button hidden behind the cockpit.
The aforementioned Technic Ultimate Car is a new moniker for a collection of sets LEGO has released in the past. The Daytona SP3 joins the 42115: Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, 42083: Bugatti Chiron and 42056: Porsche 911 GT3 RS as the fourth toy to carry this name.
The Lamborghini and Bugatti are still on store shelves costing R6 999 and R7 499 respectively, so this new Ferrari fits right in. The Porsche has since been retired with aftermarket sealed copies priced close to R10 000.
The LEGO 42143: Ferrari Daytona SP3 launches on 1st June worldwide including South Africa.
