This week is going to be an extremely tough one for people in the country as stage 4 loadshedding looks to be a fixture for many of the coming days. Added to this is the end of June and a wait to see what impact the dropping of face mask mandates will have on COVID-19 in South Africa.
For now, the spread of the virus looks to be relatively low, with the latest report from the National Department of Health (NDoH) confirming 505 new cases over the past 24 hours.
We should keep in mind that this is a Sunday, not to mention the fact that the daily figures increase as the week passes, but at the moment, statistics appear to be on the decline in general.
The latest figures see the total number of infections recorded to date climb to 3 992 449. The department adds that four fatalities have been recorded over the past 24 hours too, with the death toll related to COVID-19 in South Africa climbing to 101 731.
Other key statistics sees the recovery rate sitting at 97.1 percent, while more than 25.69 million tests have been conducted so far.
As for the vaccine rollout, the past 24 hours has seen 907 jabs administered owing to it being a Sunday, but government is on a push for people to receive their second booster shots, so hopefully this number will pick up too. As of 17:00 on 27th June 2022, a total of 36 760 098 vaccine shave been administered across SA.
