Crash Bandicoot 4 headlines PlayStation Plus games for July 2022

With the structure of access to content for PlayStation Plus customers changing earlier this month, one thing still remains – three free-to-play titles arriving at the start of each new month.

For July 2022, PlayStation has announced that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan and Arcadegeddon will be available between 5th July and 1st August.

At the time of writing you still have until 4th July to enjoy God of War (2018), Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, should you be a PlayStation Plus member.

As for next month’s entries, Man of Medan is limited to the PS4 only, but Crash Bandicoot 4 and Arcadegeddon have both PS5 and PS4 versions available.

We reviewed the former in 2020, which you can find here, and while the return of our favourite omnivorous marsupial was appreciated, the game did not have any lasting appeal. That said, it could prove a nice distraction for those waiting for other big releases later in the month.

We are also familiar with Man of Medan, as the Dark Pictures titles usually serve up solid gameplay and an engaging survival horror story.

Arcadegeddon, however, is “new” to us.

According to a description of the game it centres around, “Gilly, the owner of a local arcade, is trying to save his business from a faceless mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co. …and what better way to stick it to the man than with a brand-spanking-new super game. Unfortunately, the corp gets wind of Gilly’s plan and launches a cyberattack, injecting a virus into the game.”

“Now it’s up to you to rise up and save both the game and the last remaining local arcade in this ever-evolving co-op multiplayer shooter,” it adds.
