Marvel / Disney has given us an update on I Am Groot, the latest Disney+ show to be set in the MCU.
On top of the short blurb and poster, this also provides us with a release date.
“The days are getting longer and the weather’s getting warmer, and you know what Groot has to say about that? ‘I am Groot!’ And that roughly translates to: ‘Marvel Studios’ I Am Groot’ is coming soon to Disney+!’,” the announcement reads.
“The series of original shorts —following Baby Groot’s glory days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars — premieres on August 10 exclusively on Disney+. Take a look at the brand new poster for the series above, featuring a very relaxed little Baby Groot just chilling out with his favorite tunes.”
With Disney+ finally available in South Africa, albeit not in the best way, local fans will be able to watch this new show legally and without needing to jump through any hoops to do so.
What’s interesting here is the 10th August release date, as that will be after the 8th July launch of Thor: Love and Thunder. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor takes off with the Guardians of the Galaxy on some adventures with Groot in tow.
We have to wonder if the events of Love and Thunder will affect the I Am Groot show, but we will have to wait and see.
Also curious is The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special TV event which is scheduled for the end of the year. Again we will have to see if the events of I Am Groot will factor into that project.
