Predator movie Prey gets a full trailer

Prey, the latest movie in the Predator franchise, now has a full length trailer so we can get a better idea of this new direction for the series.

We got our first taste for the movie by way of a teaser released back in May, but now there’s a bit more to see.

“Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, ‘Prey’ is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries,” reads the official description of the movie.

Naru is played by Amber Midthunder who has featured in several projects such as Roswell, New Mexico, Hell or High Water, Legion and more.

Helming the project is Dan Trachtenberg who is best known for directing 10 Cloverfield Lane.

In the new trailer we see that the Predator has some new tricks like a shield and a new found interest in killing bears. Speaking of the bear the CGI on the animal looks a little shaky which has us worried about how the Predator itself will look in the final product.

There’s also a quick shot of a character, presumably Naru, pulling the old trick of hiding their body temperature by using mud.

One more interesting part of the trailer is around the 1:54 mark where men with guns seem to be fighting the Predator. It seems that it won’t just be the Comanche who are involved in the conflict with the alien hunter here.

Prey launches on 5th August on Hulu. For countries which don’t have access to this streaming service it’s likely that it will be made available through Disney+ or the Star platform.

Out of those three South Africa only has access to Disney+ so we’ll need to wait and see if local fans will be able to legally watch this one there.
