Prey will stream on Disney+ in South Africa

Prey (2022) is the latest movie in the Predator franchise and South Africans fans will be able to watch the movie on Disney+.

There were fears that Prey would not be available locally due to the fact that, overseas, it is exclusive to the streaming service Hulu, which is not officially offered here.

Hulu is, however, owned by Disney which is why some countries and territories already received confirmation that Prey would stream either on Disney+ or the Star+ platforms.

South Africa was not one of those territories until we reached out to The Walt Disney Company Africa who confirmed availability to us.

While it’s good to know that availability won’t be a problem, the exact release date cannot be confirmed right now.

The overseas launch date is 5th August but we will need to wait and see when South Africans will be able to stream it.

On top of this there will not be a theatrical release of any kind.

For those who have not been keeping up with the slow reveals of Prey we finally have an official trailer which you can watch below.

There’s also this official plot summary:

“Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, ‘Prey’ is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries,” the description reads.

Hopefully, by the time this movie is out, some of the problems with the local version of Disney+ will be ironed out. See our feature here for more information about how the streaming service looks in the country right now.
