Red Hat announces availability of Ansible Automation Platform on Microsoft Azure

Open source solution specialist Red Hat has announced the general availability of its Ansible Automation Platform on Microsoft Azure. The company bills it as offering hybrid cloud automation with the convenience and support of a managed offering.

“Supported by Red Hat and Microsoft, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on Azure enables IT organisations to quickly automate and scale in the cloud, with the flexibility to deliver any application, anywhere, without additional overhead or complexity,” it explained in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“With Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on Azure, customers can benefit from low overhead, integrated billing with Microsoft, the latest Ansible Automation Platform features, and packaged cloud content,” it added.

The aim here is to offer out-of-the-box automation tools that leverage existing processes that exist within the Azure environment, so this new offering is very much designed to assist those organisations looking to accelerate their automation journey. To that end, users are able to migrate applications and resources as they transition to the cloud.

Red Hat has also improved and evolved the platform recently, with Ansible 2 coming to the fore. The company says the solution has, “introduced self-contained automation capabilities to meet customers wherever they are, whether via managed service providers, their own datacenters, at the edge or in cloud marketplaces like Azure.”

“New capabilities in Ansible Automation Platform 2.2 make it even more powerful on Azure. For example, Ansible content signing technology validates automation content, empowering IT teams to use varied content sources, whether from Red Hat Ansible Certified Content Collections or the Ansible community, with confidence that the content is suitable for their organisation’s systems security and compliance needs,” it highlighted.

In terms of the customer experience with this automation solution, Accenture’s Hybrid and Emerging Platform lead, Raj Wickramasinghe, says, “Our clients are in the midst of significant modernisation and digital transformation projects – and they’re doing it on compressed timelines. Automation is the key to realising new levels of efficiency, agility and resilience.”

“Drawing on our decades long partnership with Microsoft and experience with Azure, Accenture is developing solutions on Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and has helped a client reduce downtime by 100% and increase development time by 50% – just one example of how we’re delivering strategic initiatives faster across the cloud continuum, from public to private to edge computing,” he continued.
